How to : Masking

Recently in my stash I found some beautiful butterfly lace cardstock that I wanted to use - but it didnt match my page.

So I thought I would have a play and use it as a template for paint. So I trimmed it down,

Then placed it on my page and covered with crackle paint {being careful not to move it} - - I did a test run first as I only had one PP and didnt want to ruin it - hence why my paper is white in the pic but patterned in the final pic - but your not supposed to notice that ;)

And Vua La! a custom mask

I also got creative and used Glimmermist on a chipboard frame........

Another gorgeous ribbon pack

Hi there, Suzi Here. I have been lucky enough to have a play with one of the new ribbon packs(available in the shop soon).
The pack has 7 gorgeous pieces of ribbon including velvet ribbons, ric rac and trim.
I have created 4 layouts using the pack and still had some ribbon left over.
In this first layout I have used the gorgeous red and yellow ribbons which compliment these sassafras lass papers and American Crafts thickers(also provided by Arty Pants and available in the shop now).
I have looped the checked ribbon over and glued it to some buttons to create cute little embelishments.
I love the simplicity of these primary coloured ribbons on the white dotted swiss Bazzill(provided by ArtyPants and available in the shop now).
I have used a circle punch to cut out circles from the cardstock and then covered one with ribbon and raised with pop dots. Then I cut out the negative strip of cardstock and raised it above some strips of ribbon.
In this next layout I have used this beautiful ribbon to make a flower, by gathering the centre in to make a flower shape and then glueing the centre onto a piece of transparency and adding a pop dot to raise it. I have then used a ceramic embelishment in the centre. But you could use bling, buttons or smaller flowers to do this.
Last of all I have simply complimented this layout with 3 rows of ribbon in these lovely natural tones. Really simple but a nice effect I think.
Look out for these gorgeous ribbon packs in the shop soon
Thanks for looking

Gable box and cards

Hi everybody,

I have a new box to show you and I will do a tutorial on how to make this box. I also made two cards to go along with it. I have used the chipboard that came along with the kit but you could add what every sentiment you want depending on the occassion.

For the gable box you need one 12 x 12 cardstock.
I cut the cardstock into 8.5 inches x 11 inches first.
Along the long side, score @ 1/2", 3 1/2", 5 3/4" & 8 3/4".
Then along the short side score  @ 3" & 6 1/2".
This is how it looks after scoring.

Next, cut in from the top and bottom along the scored lines upto the horizontal scored lines.
Cut away the flap as shown in the picture below.

Now use a oval punch or a circle punch and punch out the handlesand round the corners as shown in the picture below.

Now turn the cardstock over and put the sticky tape as shown in the picture and also on the flap.
Now stick these two flap inside. This will give more stability to the box.

Now, fold along the score lines and you can see the box forming.
Stick the flap and the bottom and there you have the box.

It is a cute little box. Now decorate the box using your embellishement.
I have used the lace paper and other embellishment from the kit.
I have then used the remaining cardstock and made two cards to match the Gable box.

Hope you liked the box and reading the tutorial. Give it a go when you have time.
Have a great school holidays.

A gift bag

Morning everybody

Today I have a gift bag made using 12 x 12 pattern paper.
This one is simple to make. I will give you instructions.
Here is the gift bag. You can decorate the bag as you like.

Instructions:

Take a 12 x 12 heavy pattern paper or a cardstock which ever you prefer.
Cut it into 8 1/2" x 11". Then place the 11' side up and score at 4 1/2 and 6 1/2.
Now rotate and place the 8 1/2 side up and score at 1 1/4" and 7 1/4".
This is how it will look after you have scored.

Cut along the solid line and make 4 holes on the areas shown for fixing the handles
Now fold along the score (dotted) lines and you can see for yourself it folds into a nice box. Adhere the sides. Now the box is ready.

With the remaining piece of paper, cut two 1" x 11" pieces. These are for the handles.
And punch 2 tabs using punch or 4 small circles using circle punch.
Now place the end of the each handle piece between the folded tabs or between the two circles and make a hole at the centre. Using a large brads fix it on the box. Alternatively instead of paper handles, you can use ribbons too.

Decorate the front as you like. I have decorated it simple using the ric rac
and a chipboard thank you flower from the kit.
So now no buying gift bags and make your own for just one 12 x 12 PP or cardstock and few embellishment from your scrapbooking stash.

Hope you enjoyed reading.
Thanks for stopping by.
See you next week with more project.

Hugs

Gayatri
